BOARDING
We are happy to take care of your pets when you are away!
Our boarding kennel has over 30 runs including a fenced “play yard”. The dogs are let outside 3 times per day to run and play. Housemates are welcome to stay together in the same run. Cats are boarded in the hospital. Rest assured if your pet has a medical condition, it will stay in the hospital under the veterinarian’s supervision. Smaller dogs can be boarded inside the hospital as well at your request.
All boarders must be current on vaccinations and free of internal and external parasites! We are happy to update their vaccines and parasite control if necessary when they come to stay.
Purina dry or canned food is provided as the in-house diet. You are welcome to bring your pet’s food from home. A complimentary bath is offered to dogs boarding 3 or more nights. The bath is given the day they are leaving or the day before if you plan to pick up early.
Animals may be dropped off and picked up for boarding only during regular hospital hours.

PHARMACY
Our pharmacy offers a vast array of therapeutic and preventative medications. Typically, prescriptions are filled during appointments so that your pet can start treatment immediately. Long term medications are dispensed in 1-3 month quantities and some require lab work for monitoring purposes. Outside compounding pharmacies are used as necessary and prescriptions are written if a human product is needed.
SOFT TISSUE + ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY
Routine and advanced surgical procedures are performed at the hospital and pets are typically admitted the morning of surgery. Depending on the procedure, your pet may or may not need to be hospitalized postoperatively. Do not feed your pet the morning of surgery, but water can be allowed until the animal is admitted. From spays and neuters to orthopedic surgeries, our doctors perform a vast array of procedures.
*For some advanced surgeries, patients are referred to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
Helping your pet live a long and healthy life is our top priority.

PREVENTATIVE CARE + VACCINATIONS
Promptly diagnosing disease in your pet is critical when they become ill.
This will guide the therapeutic plan to help them feel better as soon as possible. The laboratory and radiology departments are utilized to get information quickly. From diabetes to kidney disease, we will help you understand problems that your pet may be facing and how we can help.
INTERNAL MEDICINE
Diagnostic imaging is essential in evaluating a patient’s injuries or illness.
Radiographs (X-rays): When necessary, this modality is utilized to identify injuries from fractured bones to bladder stones. The images and findings are then explained to the pet parent. We are proud to announce that we have digital radiography! These high resolution images allow for superior evaluation for disease.
Ultrasound (Sonogram): This non-invasive technique is used to study the function and structure of internal organs. Often, ultrasound is complimentary to radiographs, allowing our doctors to more thoroughly evaluate an area of concern.
RADIOLOGY +ULTRASOUND
Our state of the art in-house laboratory offers comprehensive testing for your pet. Pre-anesthetic, annual, and sick patient blood work is analyzed in our hospital with results usually available within 30 minutes. This allows our doctors to quickly assess and diagnose health problems and institute any necessary treatments. Needle biopsies, urine and fecal samples, and skin and ear samples are also evaluated in our lab. Biopsy specimens and any special tests are sent to the appropriate outside veterinary laboratory.
LABRATORY
Dental care is essential for maintaining a healthy mouth in both dogs and cats. Studies show that as much as 80% of the pet population is affected by periodontal disease. This can be very painful and may affect other organ systems in your pet. The mouth and teeth are evaluated during each exam and dental cleanings are recommended annually for most adult animals.
